Is South Ozone Park, NY a bad neighborhood now?

I'm thinking about moving back to Queens, the South Ozone Park area to be exact. I recently did a Google search on SOP and was surprised to read some of the things people were saying about this area. The things people were saying about SOP were so negative. "Too much drugs, muggings, murders." "It's like the ghetto." "Don't walk through this area at night." I used to live in SOP on 123rd St & 111th Ave (up until 2000) and I don't remember the area being so bad. I mean, I know it not the safest place to live in Queens but, has it really become that bad? Should I not move back there?
