Since 1990, the start of the AFL (not VFL/AFL) only 5 clubs have not won a Premiership. ?
These types of Qs are always interesting because it's not all about who's the closest to winning one right now or even in the next few years, because you can be close to winning one and have good years but unless you are the #1 best team in a year, you can have plenty of near-misses and impressive seasons without winning one. St Kilda appear the best of the five that you have mentioned, but if Geelong get in the way as they already have once, their window could close with just a bunch of second-place finishes. Freo, as good as they have looked at times, I'm not sold that I can see them ever being the team that hoists the cup up on Grand Final day. For the reason that being good doesn't necessarily mean even one flag, questions like this are often a guess at best. Interesting though. The Doggies don't seem to be making much of what could very well be the last roll of the dice, and Richmond are Richmond, plus Collingwood and Geelong look like big threats to stand in the way of the others, so I will go out on a limb and say Melbourne in response to your question.
